Method and pricing

Analyse. Design. Build. Support.

Every project runs the exact same way, moving from a business goal to fully operational software. Fast, because I build with cutting-edge technology. Sound, because I know how to keep it secure and scalable.

THE METHOD

Four phases, no shortcuts

The sequence is critical. Most issues in software development occur before a single line of code is written, which is why significant effort is invested upfront to ensure the build remains rapid and predictable.

01

Analyse

I begin with your operational goals, not software choices. This phase expands on the initial scoping conversation in greater detail, culminating in a comprehensive project specification that remains yours whether or not you choose to build with me.

02

Design

A clear roadmap established before code is generated: detailing deliverables, execution order, total investment, and expected commercial returns. Addressing complex technical questions early eliminates costly surprises later.

03

Build

I build using advanced techniques, including agentic AI, so work that typically takes traditional teams months is complete in weeks. Every line of code is reviewed, secured, and tested.

04

Support

Software without ongoing maintenance steadily degrades over time. Most clients retain me monthly to oversee administration, monitor uptime, and continue development as operational needs evolve. Alternatively, I provide full documentation for a seamless handover.

AFTER LAUNCH

What does a retained support arrangement cover?

Support is the single service delivered on a monthly retainer rather than a fixed project fee, and most clients choose to maintain it. It covers three key areas in whatever combination you require: administrative management to free up internal staff, continuous service monitoring to resolve issues before they affect users, and ongoing development as your business evolves.

Pricing is tailored to your specific infrastructure rather than sold in rigid tiers. It is quoted alongside the core build, and because delivery efficiency matches my development speed, a monthly retainer costs significantly less than a traditional agency retainer or a fraction of a full-time hire.

Retainers are completely optional. If you prefer to manage the system internally, all codebase repositories, credentials, and technical documentation are handed over cleanly.

WHAT TO EXPECT

From kickoff to live deployment

Rapid execution requires complete transparency. Below is how a typical project unfolds from your perspective.

How long it takes

The Analyse phase requires two to ten hours of involvement, usually delivering the final summary within a week. Design delivers a functional prototype within two days. The Build phase takes six to eight working days of engineering, typically averaging three weeks from start to live deployment.

What I need from you

Minimal time investment. Initial scoping, brief reviews as features take shape, and final user testing prior to launch. You will not need dedicated project managers or complex technical specifications from your internal team.

How you track progress

A live project tracker shared from day one displays real-time progress against key milestones, complete with accessible links to functional components as they are built.

When requirements change

Operational priorities can shift once live software is tested. Minor adjustments are absorbed naturally into the build. Any material changes to scope are re-quoted in advance, ensuring costs never increase without your explicit approval.

What you own at launch

Total ownership of code, documentation, and system access. You receive the full repository, credentials hosted in your own accounts, and comprehensive written guides on system operation and maintenance.

GETTING STARTED

Start small. Proceed at your own pace.

You are never required to commit to the entire project upfront. Each phase validates the next.

01

Free scoping call

A call with no fee and no sales deck. Discuss your goals and technical friction points to receive an honest assessment of project feasibility and commercial value.

02

Design phase

A fixed-fee blueprint detailing system architecture, project sequencing, and anticipated returns. Yours to keep and implement independently or with QuikA Consulting.

03

Build phase

Delivered on a fixed-price basis for clearly defined scopes with milestone invoicing. Work commences only when deliverables and costs are fully agreed.

WHAT IT COSTS

How much does a custom build cost?

QuikA Consulting operates at a standard rate of £75 per hour, equivalent to a senior freelance engineer. The key distinction lies in accelerated delivery timelines, resulting in substantially lower overall project costs.

Project complexity In-house engineer (salary + 40% overheads) Freelance engineer (£75/hr, traditional pace) QuikA Consulting (£75/hr, at least 5x faster)
Quick: a discrete tool or integration £4,100 £5,600 £1,125 (2 days, not 2 weeks)
Average: a fully connected system £12,400 £16,900 £3,375 (6 days, not 6 weeks)
Complex: core operational software £26,900 £36,600 £7,300 (under 3 weeks, not 3 months)

QuikA Consulting delivers up to 7x faster than traditional software development. The projections above apply a conservative 5x benchmark to provide realistic financial estimates. Figures reflect standard UK industry benchmarks: a senior engineer earning a £65,000 base salary costs approximately £91,000 fully loaded when accounting for National Insurance, pension contributions, recruitment, equipment, and leave coverage. Hourly rates for freelance work and QuikA Consulting are identical at £75 per hour; the cost reduction stems directly from completing the work in a fifth of the standard timeframe.

Larger engagements are scoped and quoted in full prior to kickoff, ensuring total price certainty. The only service operating outside a fixed-fee model is the monthly support retainer.

What are the market alternatives and their associated costs?

Every development route presents distinct advantages and trade-offs.

Route What it costs The trade-off
In-house senior engineer £70k to £95k base salary (£110k to £130k true annual cost) A full-time salary, a long hire, and all the risk if they leave. You pay for capacity whether or not there is work.
Specialist consultancy £15k to £50k for strategy; builds starting from £60k High initial expenditure for documentation, with final builds often handed off to junior execution teams.
Independent contractor £500 to £1,200 daily rate Flexible initial setup, but institutional knowledge departs when the contract ends.
QuikA Consulting Fixed projects from £1,125, or monthly support retainers You deal directly with the senior engineer doing the work, and pay only for the hours it takes. The catch: I take on a limited number of projects at once, so start dates depend on availability.

Connecting existing infrastructure is detailed under integration, while creating new software capabilities is covered under development. All core phases and pricing models apply consistently across all sectors, including HR and learning technology platforms.
